When I was young (many years ago) I was taught that the mission field was a long long distance away – places like Africa, India, China etc. The world has changed and now the mission field is RIGHT HERE! Oh, there is still a need for people like Gerry & Barb Normand to show the love of Jesus Christ to people in Guatemala. However in the GTA and specifically here in Brampton the world is coming to us.
This week a gentleman contacted me who is presently in Brampton but from Nepal. Here is what he wrote me in an e-mail “I am from Nepal. I am here in Brampton last 2 weeks. I want to come to church. I do not know anything about god. I met one African friend in Calgary a week ago on the road. He teach me little about god and pray for my family. My mom and my small daughter is sick in Nepal. He pray for them and they getting better there so I am too much believe about god. So I want to continue pray and start my new life with god. Would you help me to come there?”
So, what would you do if you received such an e-mail? Well, I seized the opportunity and met with this gentleman on Wednesday & shared the gospel with him & gave him a bible and the little leaflet Steps to Peace with God. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue the work He started in Calgary and that my new friend from Nepal will accept Jesus as his Savior. In Jesus’ words “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)
Praise God for the opportunity to sow some seeds. May each of us be open to be used by God wherever He has placed us.
