      Stronger Together

      July 10, 2019

“The huge redwood trees in California are considered the largest things on earth and the tallest trees in the world.  Some of them are three hundred feet high and over 2,500 years old.  One would think that trees so large would have a tremendous root system reaching down hundreds of feet into the earth.

The redwoods actually have a very shallow system of roots, but they all intertwine.  They are locked to each other.  When the storms come or the winds blow, the redwoods stand.  They are locked to each other, and they don’t stand alone, for all the trees support and protect each other.” – Robert Morgan

I love this reminder because it really describes what the church should be all about.  Jesus made it clear in John 13:35 when he said “This is how everyone will recognize you are my disciples – when they see the love you have for each other” (The Message)

As a body of believers we are called upon to love one another, care for one another, support one another, protect and defend one another.  This is what will make us strong.  STRONGER TOGETHER should be our motto.

Since our arrival we have tried to encourage relationships and build community.  Is it perfect yet?  Not a chance –however, there are many healthy indicators and our prayer is that this will continue to occur under Pastor Wayne’s leadership when he arrives in September.  We do need to be there for each other so let’s be like those redwood trees and make sure no one is alone but instead be connected, supported by one another.

      Blessings
