Lessons from Heart Lake Baptist Church

      August 28, 2019

Lessons from Heart Lake Baptist Church!!  The past 3+ years have been incredible.  This church has taught us so much and I am thankful that the Lord has allowed us to be here.  I never thought I would end my pastoral ministry here in Ontario!  Having pastored all my life on the East Coast, I never saw this one coming.  But we have loved it all so much.  (Well, with the exception of the crazy driving here in the G.T.A.)

We have loved getting to know the congregation here at Heart Lake Baptist.  We have so appreciated the way you warmly welcomed us and have embraced the many changes I have instituted.  The multi-culturalism of HLBC has been so exciting.  It has been a sharp learning curve; learning new and very different names & trying to carefully understand the various accents.  We have remarked that it will be difficult to go back to a church which is predominantly white, Anglo-Saxon.  You have enriched my life with your stories of struggle in coming to Canada from sometimes very dangerous & life-threatening situations.  You have taught me a lot about worshipping God with different languages, customs & enthusiasm.  You have clearly shown the oneness we have in Christ even though over 30 countries are represented in this congregation.

The 3+ years have gone fast.  But I believe this church is in a healthier & stronger place than it was before we arrived.  I am excited that you have embraced the transition plan & I believe Pastor Wayne & his family will give strong leadership in years to come.  I look forward to hearing how God will use you all to continue to build His Kingdom.

Brenda & I cannot say it enough – but THANK YOU! For your love, your kindness, your gifts, your prayers.  It has been a remarkable time with you all & we love you & will miss you.

      Love, Dr. “T”

P.S. I hope many of you will be here on Sept 8th for our last Sunday & Pastor Wayne’s first Sunday.
