Job Posting: Summer Youth and Children’s Worker                                       May 2022

With the support of the Government of Canada and the Summer Jobs grant initiative, Heart Lake Baptist Church is fortunate to have been approved for four students to be employed as Youth and Children’s Workers.  We will be hiring two students for a 12-week employment period, starting June 13th and two students for an 8-week employment period, starting July 11th.

Starting and End Date:

Two positions: June 13th to September 4th (35 hours each week).  Please apply by May 24th

Two positions: July 11th to September 4th (30 hours each week). Please apply by June 6th

Children’s Ministry (Sunday Morning Children’s Program & Children’s Outreach Program):

  • Work with a team to deliver weekly dynamic Sunday morning lessons to the children. Ensure safety and enjoyment of children in the program.

  • Work as a team to provide an in-person crafts night.

  • Setting up Sunday school rooms.

  • Diligently track attendance and maintain a list of children and families whose attendance is irregular, and initiate follow up when appropriate.

  • Work in team to plan and implement 6 one-week virtual online Kids Camp or a weeklong in-person kids’ camp. To create Parent/children Connection Activities experience for local church and community children.

Youth Ministry (Weekly Jr/Sr. High Combined events and other):


  • Plan and implement summer calendar with team.

  • Ensure permission forms are received for offsite events.

  • Ensure all attendance is taken and kept up to date.

  • Ensure engagement and safety of youth participants.

  • Plan, prepare and implement other events.

Outreach: Participation with community initiatives (e.g., Regeneration and/or Heart Lake Baptist Church Food Pantry and/or Heartbeat Bikes)


Additional:

  • Specific plans may change as the program develops.

  • Other appropriate duties may be assigned by supervisor such as landscaping, painting, and small general repair.

  • Participate in leadership development training.


Requirements:

  • Between the ages 15 & 30.

  • Evidence of commitment to Christ through involvement in their church community.

  • Creative; organizational skills; works well on a team.

  • Willing to work Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.

  • Experience teaching and supervising children an asset.

  • Successful candidates will need to do a police reference check.

  • Willing to have a flexible schedule and being able to work some evenings.
