Sep27WedSeptember 27, 2017 Pastor TerryMartin Buxbaum, an American poet, wrote this little verse which has a lot of truth to it:You can use most any measureWhen you're speaking of successYou can measure it in a fancy homeExpensive car or dressBut the measure of your real successIs one you cannot spendIt's the way your child describes YOUWhen talking to a friend. Now that I'm a grandfather I see my own children in a different light and our relationship is great and for that, I say thank you Lord. Parenting is a tough job but if God has blessed you with a child or children make sure you do all you can to make this a strong healthy relationship. As the above poem states success is not measured by "stuff" but by relationships and how we live out our Christian lives. This Sunday I will complete our little series on II Peter 1:5-9 as we have been examining 7 virtues which should shine through our lives as we walk with Jesus. My prayer is that we will do our best to add these virtues to our faith so as Peter puts it "The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (verse 8 in the New Living Translation)So may your child or someone who knows you well describe YOU as a loving, caring person who reflects God's image. May your success be measured not by the world's standards but by God's standards.Blessings
