Jun27TueJune 27, 2017 Pastor TerryJuly 1st 2017 - Canada celebrates 150 years! I don't know about you, but I love our country. I believe we are blessed to live in such a great nation. Our national anthem was originally called "Chant National". It was written in Quebec City by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier (words in French) and composer Calixa Lavallee (music) and first performed on June 24th, 1880.The popularity of "O Canada" grew rapidly in Quebec, but the anthem was not heard in English until 20 years later. The English version went through many revisions until 1967, under Prime Minister Lester Pearson, our present rendition was adopted as the National Anthem of Canada.I love the fact that we still acknowledge God in our anthem "God keep our land, glorious and free". A further amendment is coming to make it more gender neutral but as of today no movement to drop God from the words.Scripture implores us to pray for our nation and those in authority (I Timothy 2:1, 2; I Peter 2:17; II Chronicles 7:14; Romans 13:1)God bless our nation and may we continue to pray that Canada will remain strong and continue to be known as "peacekeepers" throughout the world. Why not wear something RED this Sunday!BlessingsDr. "T"
