Apr11TueApril 11, 2017 Pastor TerryI know Easter is coming. But to get there, we need to go through Good Friday. How quickly we want to bypass Friday. When Mel Gibson did the movie "The Passion of the Christ" back in 2004, many people struggled to watch the graphic scenes which depicted Jesus Christ being whipped, beaten and then crucified. Roman crucifixion was a horrible way to die. But we need to remember Jesus willingly laid His life down for you and for me. Nails did not hold Jesus to the cross. Love did!And that is what makes Good Friday good. But beyond that we have the hope of Easter morning. Tears on Friday. Cheers on Sunday. The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest news humankind has ever received. My Sunday message is entitled "The Shortest Verse, the greatest hope". Bring a friend and come for the Easter celebration beginning at 8am with a short SONRISE service followed by a continental breakfast and then an uplifting worship service at 10am.If we stopped at the cross we would not have salvation. But the story does not end at the cross. "Don't be alarmed," the women were told at the tomb 3 days later, "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him." (Mark 16:6).
Christs' resurrection is the event we celebrate on Easter. His suffering and death made it possible. Remember, tears on Friday, cheers on Sunday! Come and be a part of this exciting day. See you Friday and then again on Sunday.
