Pastor's PonderingsMy last musing for 2017! Next week I am away for a few days as we head out east to visit some of our family. Therefore, there will not be a ponderings next week. So, let me finish the year by saying thank you. We have been here for 18 months and it is wonderful to see all that has happened at Heart Lake in such a short time. We have added 2 part-time staff. We have put things in place to increase our fellowship, our connectedness. Fellowship time after the services, a pictorial directory, major events like our fall launch and international Sunday have helped us get to know one another better. Re-starting small groups, launching a 1729 group (for young adults) and a Young at Heart group (for our seniors) have also increased opportunities for fellowship.2018, Lord willing, will see us add an associate pastor which will strengthen our children's ministry. Introducing an alternative Sunday morning worship service will enable us to grow and invite more people to become part of HLBC. We are praying this will be ready to go September 2018.Brenda and I are enjoying it here in Brampton and we have felt God's love through this church. Thank you for your love, support, words of encouragement and acceptance of these "East Coasters". May you & your family experience God's peace at this time of the year. Merry Christmas and may you experience a blessed New Year.Love to you allDr. "T"

Nov30ThuNovember 30, 2017 Pastor TerryI love Psalm 90. It is jam-packed with some great wisdom and verses that many of us are familiar with. Verse 4 "... 1000 years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by." Verse 10 "The length of our days is 70 years - or 80, if we have the strength..." Then we come to verse...
Nov23ThuNovember 23, 2017 Pastor TerryLast Sunday Night we held our annual meeting and I challenged those in attendance with the fact that there is a new designation of generations and they are called GenZ, those born between 1998-2016, 2.4 billion strong. (view video below) The previous generation, the Millennials (born between 1982-1997) grew up in the church...

Many of us have been involved in our church-wide study on PRAYER and so for this week's ponderings I want to share a praise item and then 2 specific prayer requests.

Oct3TueOctober 3, 2017 by Pastor TerryA mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin (5) and Ryan (3). The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson, so she said "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'" Kevin turned to his younger brother and...
Sep27WedSeptember 27, 2017 Pastor TerryMartin Buxbaum, an American poet , wrote this little verse which has a lot of truth to it:You can use most any measureWhen you're speaking of successYou can measure it in a fancy homeExpensive car or dressBut the measure of your real successIs one you cannot spendIt's the way your child describes YOUWhen talking to a friend....
