Who Are We?
Our church was founded in 1977 as an extension of First Baptist Church, Brampton and as a church plant of the Baptist Convention of Ontario & Quebec (B.C.O.Q.) and the Guelph Association of Baptist Churches. We are affiliated as a member church with Canadian Baptists of Ontario & Quebec (C.B.O.Q. formally known as B.C.O.Q) and are part of the Toronto Association. Together we seek to engage in vibrant worship, meaningful fellowship, growth through study, and expressing our gifts and talents through service and mission as a community of Christ followers.
Pastor Terry came to us in July 2016 from the East Coast of Canada. He has been pastoring for 30 years and has a deep love for the local church to help it reach its full potential in "blooming where it is planted."
He is committed to mentoring younger leaders and has a heart for those in our society who are often overlooked. His social work background has equipped him to reach out to the hurting and point them to the healing power of Jesus Christ.
He is married to Brenda (O'Blenis) and they have two children and six adorable grandchildren. Terry loves to golf, play tennis and squash and loves to travel and see different parts of God's great creation.
Sue Gumbley - Our administrator keeps us on track and running in smooth synchronicity! Assisting the pastors, supporting church ministries, communicating with our church community, oversight of building usage and condition, website development and more - all these are handled behind the scenes by our administrator.
Brittni Lewis & Hannah Jaikumar 10/10 Positions -
The 10/10 positions are part-time staff positions (10 hours per week for 10 months of the year) in various areas of ministry that give specific responsibilities and accountability to an individual from our congregation. These positions allow us to give focused support to key ministries. We currently have two 10/10 positions - Youth and Family Life.
Our Elders & Council Team
Meet our Leadership team! Church Council (our Board of Directors) works together with our Elders to provide oversight to the spiritual, administrative, financial and day to day operations of the Church. The Leadership team helps keep our vision and values foundational to ministry and direction. Elders and Council members are elected by the members of HLBC.
